Golf is a great leveller
What is frustrating is the lack of consistency - being able to plan your shots, if you cannot be consistent
here are some tips:
First of all, be sure to warm up, with some good stretches, and get the circulation going
Reduce you caffeine intake, and therefore avoid the jitters
Relax your grip, mostly avoid tensing up
Get yourself in the correct stance
Practice a couple of swings, and take your time to set your stance and strke
Take a slow backswing
As a beginner, make good contact with the ball, and avoid smashing it . Contact first.
On the green, set up the writing on the ball with the direction of the putt.
On the fairway, aim to come under the ball, with some of the earht
Relax and have fun
Practice the final 50 yds to the hole more than other shots
Finally, be sure to take care picking the ball out of the hole - most back strains occur here !!
I found that this was also very useful, and had great feedback to apply this to improve golf swing.
